News: We at Muckamore Credit Union are always working towards creating the best product for our members and to this end we decided this year to invest in new equipment.

We have invested in  the very latest all-in one touchscreen computers. To compilment these we have invested in new printers which  print straight on to the pass book, doing away with the old cumbersome and untidy stickers.

Our new system went on line on 1st October 2010 and the system worked extremely well. The programme was written by Dr Craig Wootton and he also procured and installed the new equipment as well as being on hand to make sure everything ran as it should for the first few weeks. He also provided training for our tellers prior to our system going live.

We can now accept payment by debit card.

In addition to all of the above we will also be introducing a facility where our members will be able to view their account balances on line, we will give deatails as to how this can be accessed before we launch the scheme.

Our end of year work has now begun and our accounts will be checked over the course of the next few weeks and dispatched to our accountant.

Our AGM will be held on the fourth Wednesday in February 2012.

The dividend we issue for year 2010/11 will be announced on that date and paid into our customers accounts soon after.

Saturday opening has had to be discontinued due to lack of support however as usual we will listen to our members and continue to offer as good a service as we can to our members.

Members can come along on a Friday evening from 5.00pm to 7.30pm and enjoy the friendly service we provide or pay by Standing Order. Which ever is preferred.

Currently we are involved in a consultation process along with our collegues in the UFCU and our counterparts in the Irish League of Credit Unions.

This process will culminate on 31st March 2012 when we will be regulated by the Financial Services Authority instead or the Registrars office (part of DETI)

There were a series of road shows hosted by the FSA in September and beginning of October during which we learned of a lot of changes to the rules, we will have to adhere to in future.

Some of these we feel are reasonable and some we are not at all pleased with and would like ammended.

We along with other member Credit Unions of the UFCU will return our objections to the FSA by 31st October 2011 as requested.

We hope that the FSA are reasonable enough to realise that the suggestions we offer are sensible and take them on board before their final rule book is published.

No matter what the outcome you can be sure we will strive to ensure all our members will continue to receive a great service fro Muckamore Credit Union Limited.
